St. Hermelin is the only local high school in Lunarvale, tucked away in the rural southwest part of town. Though much of the city subscribes to many American cultural norms, St. Hermelin still follows the typical structure of a dress code and a three-year cycle, although they use the terms 'freshman,' 'junior,' and 'senior' instead of more literal labels of year of study.

The main building is divided into three floors, each one dedicated to a specific grade. All three floors use soft, lighter colors through the hallways, with white walls, ivory ceilings, and checkerboard floors of alternating beige and tan squares. This gives the school an appearance of being very clean. Small black square lockers are prominent in nearly every hallway between classroom doors, easily outnumbering the actual student body. As the student body has shrinked somewhat, many rooms go unused and are kept sealed.

Clean as it may appear, St. Hermelin is not considered very prestigious. The teaching staff is seen as some of the worst around. Dr. Kotter, the principal, is considered the only thing really keeping the place functional as a school. Teachers especially hate it when students play strange 'games' that seem more like innocent cult rituals, which they do with alarming frequency.
