"Call out, and he will answer. Do not, and he may still come. He is ever so watchful."

Ichiya Chigiri's Persona is that of Mahes. It is based upon an Egyptian god who was seen as many different views. He was seen as protector of the innocent but also murderer of the wicked who dared to destroy Universal Order and the laws laid down by Ma'at.

The Lore

In the ancient myths of Egyptian Lore of their many gods and goddesses. Mahes was the son of Baset and Ptah. It is said that when the Ma'at was violated and her law was not followed, the other gods would go forth and set things right. However, it was Mahes who be sent to punish the one who committed the crime. Most crimes were dealt with by the hand of death, thus Mahes was to be called the "God Of The Massacre" by people of Egypt. Though he was also at times called the "Kindly One", though this was very rare among the people. It was also said that Mahes was also known as the Protector of the Innocent as well, for he would not lay a hand on those who did no wrong and only going after those who had done wicked. This meant he was seen as a god who cast upon judgment by the acts of the people and how they were laid out in the laws of the Universal Order. There was also times he was called out by the people as, "The Lion Egyptian Headed God of War", so perhaps to some, he was seen as the one who protect the soldiers of battle while destroying those of the opposing side as they were guilty to stand before the Egyptian empire.

If you had done no wrong, then Mahes would protect you and guide you, but if you had committed an act of a crime, then your punishment was carried out by the swift hand of death.

Mahes was Worshiped at the Cult center at Leontopolis, which he was also worshipped alongside Bast at Bubastis. It was also said that The Greeks also worshipped him for a time, possibly aligning him with the Furies.

Mahes was seen as a young man with lion's head, a double crown known as an atef, and often holding a knife in his hand. His symbol was the sun and tied to the desert summers.

The Names

Mahes carried many names within Egypt, some of these were: Mihos Miysis Mios Maihes Maahes

He was also referred to by other cultures under a few other god names, however these are just the Egyptian ones.
