|Kasumi is a first year at Gekkoukan High School. She is pretty quiet and reserved most of the time. Lately though, she has been trying to socialize more, especially with starting at a new school. Her father owns a bookstore in Port Island and Kasumi spends the majority of her time there, either helping her father or just reading or writing. People are generally friendly to her but she tends to close up if people try to get too close. She has a good reason for this though. The secrets and tragedies she holds in her heart leave many people wondering exactly what is going on in her mind.

Her only solace was her cat, reading books and writing constantly. It wasn't until she met Mai Namikawa and members of SEES that things started  to change for her. After an unfortunate set of circumstances, she was forced to confront the demons that had been hidden away in her closet for so long. Things seem to be looking up for the young woman and she is more optimistic than ever about her future. There have been instances, especially recently, where socializing hasn't been as hard for her but generally it is. The fear of people getting too close is always in her mind no matter what. Her love of writing and reading keeps her occupied a lot of the time at the bookstore. She has started reading about the occult lately to get more information for her writing. She has recently come across a forum online. It is a bit 'darker' and filled with rumors and such but it really interests her. Marlinchen comes from the story of the Juniper Tree. The story goes that a woman wanted a child as red as blood and as white as snow. She finally gives birth to a boy and dies shortly after his birth. The father remarries and they have a child together and name her Marlinchen (some versions call her Marjory). The mother loves her daughter dearly but does not want the son to get the family fortune. She kills him and makes Marlinchen think that it is her fault. Through a twisted series of events the stepmother is killed and the son is 'rebirthed.'

Resonance: Anyone who can sense resonances will probably feel a bit of innocence but a very deep sense of inner strength. For smells they will get the scent of apples or perhaps juniper berries... maybe a bit of both. Sound-wise her resonance would portray strongly the sound of birds singing a beautiful happy tune. Though if she is threatened or fearful the sounds would be much less cheerful.
