Description
The Fool plays a special role in the Major arcana, as both the beginning and yet apart from the other arcana. It holds infinite possibility, and yet this possibility is still untapped and new. There is nothing predictable about the Fool, as it can take any form and go anywhere, breaking all conventions. Sometimes this can cause the Fool and his associates no end of trouble, and sometimes this daring exploration reveals new horizons for others to follow. Whatever happens... it will be sure to be interesting. After all, Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.
And yet, for some, all that energy and possibility is turned on its head, reversed. All the power of the arcana is still present, but instead of being turned outwards towards the world, it's not put to any use at all. If the Fool never heads out on his Journey, how will he use his potential to change the world? And that is exactly what fails to happen. The Fool Reversed is unwilling or unable to go on his way.
